Greentrepreneurs Behind The Initiative: Amit Saraogi, Clementine Chambon, Marek Mazur and Apolline Chabenat.

Working of The Technology: Biomass (esp. rice husk) powered decentralized system to cheaply co-produce electricity and biochar (biochar is a long-term, natural soil enhancer).

Current Implementation: Uttar Pradesh (India) through rural communities.

Future PlanIn 5 years, Oorja aims to reach 1 million underserved people and to save 1 million tons of CO2 - which is equivalent to wiping out the annual emissions of one large coal-fired power plant.
Note from Greeinvent IndiaUnique initiative. Organic fertilizer in India is an emerging area and Oorja has shown bio-char as one of the possibilities towards this end. Further, agriculture residue, which till recent past was largely wasted, can now be effectively utilized for electricity generation through Oorja's solution. Greeinvent India wishes Oorja Greentrepreneurs all success in this field.
